THE INSIDE STORY / behind the scenes
The makings of StrangeLife Collections sputtered in Dec. 2009 a wink after The Scribe's college graduation. A perilous identity crises took her by storm and forced her to break out of her shell. She found gravity in self-published books, essays and travel blogs with offbeat journeys on the Native American Reservation in "My Magnetic Compass." After this book was secretly self-published in 2011, not telling a single soul for a while about her newest creations, her adventures continued into Mexico and a nudist beach, Northern California and Buddhism and rebellion, all found in self-published PhotoBooks that at the moment, are stranded in Lulu.com. This opened to a reunion with her birth mother at the eve of 2012.

In Feb. 2012 she flew to the Philippines armed with a journal and camera to document her strange journey. In the most insecure hours of her life, she used media to grip her own reality, forcing herself to tell her story in her way, just to help her understand her struggles. Upon returning to the U.S., she gained a new appreciation for story-telling media and the positive aspects of this self-expression. She returned and headed off to Chicago, where web media began to surface. By more awkward situations, she found herself living temporarily in St. Louis, MO with a wonderful companion, inspiring her to finally market this stuff.

The self-published books will slowly wrap up in late Aug. 2012. The Scribe will continue to learn about the story-telling process with a Masters in Creative Writing. During this time, she will launch and support StrangeLife Collections in efforts to allocate funds and interest to creatively documenting other StrangeLife or adopted experiences that will raise awareness in today's world where indie media rules. One final book may sputter out of her private world: "Opening the Bird Cage," the final chapters of The Scribe.
